Tottenham Plan To Raid Real Madrid For Lassana Diarra This Week

Tottenham are reportedly keen on signing Real Madrid midfielder Lassana Diarra on loan for the rest of the season, according to the Mirror.

Tottenham want to take the Frenchman on loan to White Hart Lane until the end of the 2010-11 Premier League campaign, with the option of signing him on a permanent basis in the summer.

Diarra has previously played under Harry Redknapp at Portsmouth, and would like to rejoin his previous boss in Tottenham’s conquest for European and domestic dominance.

Redknapp previously signed Diarra for Pompey for £5.5million from Arsenal in 2008, before selling him off to Real Madrid for £18million a year later in 2009.

Diarra’s playing style has been compared to that of fellow countryman and previous French legend Claude Makelele, and occupies a holding midfield role.

Redknapp will look to get Diarra to sign for Tottenham and return to the Premier League before the end of next week. Diarra will be one of the few players to have played in all three of London’s elite clubs, as he signed for Chelsea from Le Havre for £1m in 2005, and for Arsenal for the same price two years later.

It is no secret that Redknapp thinks highly of the player, and should he join him at the Lane, he would be prepared to dish out £10million for the Frenchman in the summer.
