Barcelona Commence Process For Pep Guardiola's Contract Extension

Barcelona have unshelved Pep Guardiola's papers as contract extension talks begin.
Barcelona's contract conveyor belt has started to turn in Pep Guardiola's direction as talks begin over a new deal.

It seems that the club has been encouraged to bring negotiations forward in response to gestures by Lionel Messi, who on Friday stressed the need to tie Guardiola down to a longer deal.

Spanish daily AS now reports that the process has started with Barcelona taking strict measures to ensure that they prolong Guardiola's time at Camp Nou.

The coach is expected to sign on for another season at least with the dressing room backing him to remain.

Meanwhile, El Mundo Deportivo are claiming that the Camp Nou giants are looking for defenders in anticipation of Gabriel Milito's move to Malaga.

Milan's Thiago Silva is a name making the rounds as is Chelsea target David Luiz of Benfica. The 23-year-old is being valued at €30 million but on Friday the Portuguese side denied reports they were keen on selling the centre-back.
