Merseysiders unwilling to pay asking price for Belgium international
Everton look set to lose out in their attempt to sign Belgium international Jonathan Legear from Anderlecht, Goal.com UK can reveal.

The Merseysiders have contacted the Belgian club about taking Legear on loan until the end of the season with a view to a €5 million (£4.2m) move in the summer.

But Legear has also attracted interest from two Bundesliga clubs and now looks set to move to Germany in a permanent deal this month.

Although Anderlecht have told suitors they value Legear at €6m (£5.1m), it is believed they will accept €5m for a player who broke into the Belgian national team earlier this season.

Everton manager David Moyes watched Legear, who can play on either the right side of a front three or on the right of a four-man midfield, have an outstanding match for Belgium in their 4-4 draw against Austria in Brussels last October.

Moyes is looking for a replacement for Steven Pienaar, who moved to Tottenham for £2.5m this week, but has been told he will have to work within a strict budget and settle for loan deals in the January window.
