Liverpool forward Milan Jovanovic is understood to have turned down the chance to join Bundesliga club Wolfsburg.

Steve McClaren was believed to be keen on replacing striker Edin Dzeko, who moved to Manchester City, with the former Standard Liege man.

Reports suggested a £6 million offer had been tabled, but the former Standard Liege man has rejected the opportunity of a move, according to Sky Sports.

Jovanovic arrived at Anfield in the summer as Roy Hodgson took over, but has been unable to make himself a first team regular on Merseyside.

The striker recently told LFC Weekly he is expecting his fortunes to vastly improve under Kenny Dalglish over the second half of the season.
