Manuel Pellegrini: Malaga Aiming For Three Points Against Barcelona

Malaga boss Manuel Pellegrini has said that it's not in his side's make-up to go to Barcelona and defence.
The chasm between Malaga and Barcelona in the Primera Division may be vast, but Boquerones coach Manual Pellegrini has nevertheless insisted that he takes his side to the Camp Nou with the firm intention of picking up maximum points.

Commanding a squad that has had a facelift over the past couple of weeks, the Chilean is remarkable upbeat prior to Sunday’s encounter, stating to Marca that his goal is to “win” the encounter, not merely running the Catalans close.

“That’s not our mentality,” the South American argued. “I hope we can produce a very good match.”

Pellegrini knows much about Barca, having had to focus on them primarily during his stint in charge of Real Madrid last season. Pep Guardiola’s men were all that stood between los Blancos and the league title, but Pellegrini’s overall record against Barcelona is fairly impressive.

“With Villarreal I had four wins, four defeats and two draws,” he remembered, though last season the 57-year-old failed to pick up a point in two games with Real Madrid.

If Malaga were to earn anything on Sunday, it would go down as a significant shock.
