Chilean midfielder Gary Medel has arrived in Andalucia to complete his move from Boca Juniors to Sevilla.

The 23-year-old has not yet signed the contract being offered by Los Nervionenses, and will first undergo a series of medical examinations before the deal will be confirmed.

The deal on the table for Medel, who starred for La Roja in the World Cup in South Africa during the summer, is thought to be for four-and-a-half seasons, and all that is required is the player’s signature to confirm that transfer.

The Primera Division side will pay in the region of €6 million for Medel, whose versatility means he can also slot into central defence if necessary.

Speaking to the media before boarding the flight from Madrid earlier this morning, he claimed to be "very happy" about the prospect of playing in European football, and that he hopes "to do well in Spain".

Medel will become Sevilla's first addition of the winter transfer market, and have also been heavily linked with Rosenborg's Anthony Annan and Schalke's Ivan Rakitic.
