Nigeria are now set to play a friendly match against Sierra Leone on February 9 after their plans to play Guatemala fell through.

An equal plan to play either Benin or Tanzania met stiff opposition from coach Samson Siasia who requested the NFF to contact Sieraa Leone, a better opposition by his estimation.

The NFF has not made things easy for Siasia who was appointed coach in December and the choice of opponents for his first match in charge of the Super Eagles has become a battle. The NFF in January announced its plans to play Guatemala which was later denied by the Guatemala FA.

In an email sent to Goal.com, a GFF official had denied any agreement with the Nigeria federation even as the Nigerians insisted that they had signed an agreement through an agent.

The NFF has now set its sights closer home in search of an opponent on the continent. If Sierra Leone agrees to play the game, it is expected to take place in Lagos on February 9.

Siasia has invited Newcastle's Shola Ameobi and Wigan's Victor Moses, both players who have played youth football for England, to the Super Eagles.
