With the pitch at the Imtech Arena flooded and no relent expected in the weather, Hamburg's derby with St. Pauli has been postponed.
Hamburg’s derby encounter against St. Pauli, which was scheduled for Sunday, will have to be pushed back due to inclement weather in northern Germany, HSV’s official website has reported.

The pitch of the Imtech Arena has been drenched in heavy rainfall over the last two days, and due to the water-logged nature of the playing surface, and the forecast of more heavy rain, it has been decided to push the fixture back.

Several sources have been consulted in the decision to postpone the encounter. The DFB have inspected the pitch, while police have been consulted over the health and safety of staging the encounter.

A new date for the fixture is expected to be named at the beginning of next week.

While HSV sit comfortably in the heart of the Bundesliga table, St. Pauli are struggling just above the relegation zone.
