Hamburg are reportedly keen to sign Nuernberg star Ilkay Guendogan at the end of the season.
Highly rated youngster Ilkay Guendogan has attracted the interest of Bundesliga side Hamburg with his good performances for fellow German outfit Nuernberg in the 2010-11 campaign, according to a report in Bild.

HSV are eager to add some more creativity to their midfield, but opted not to make any big signings in the winter transfer window. They're already looking toward next season though and see the 20-year-old Guendogan as the perfect signing.

The Gelsenkirchen born Guendogan came through the ranks of the Bochum youth academy and joined his current club in the summer of 2009. He has since developed into a key player at Nuernberg and his good performances haven't gone unnoticed elsewhere.

Guendogan has previously been linked with Bayern Munich, Werder Bremen and Hoffenheim, but Hamburg now appear to be sitting in pole position to lure the midfielder away from his current club.

The youngster's current contract with Nuernberg runs until the summer of 2012 and an offer in the region of €6 million could be needed to sign Guendogan.
