We Must Learn From Defeat To Chievo - Napoli Coach Walter Mazzarri

Napoli could have closed the gap on Milan at the top of Serie A to two points but slipped against Chievo, they must now learn and recover.
Napoli coach Walter Mazzarri has admitted his team were not at their best during their 2-0 defeat against Chievo yesterday evening. The loss meant that the Azzurri failed to close the gap on Milan at the Serie A summit after the Rossoneri failed to take three points themselves at home to Lazio.

Napoli were at their free flowing best at the weekend when they dismantled a mediocre Sampdoria 4-0, Edinson Cavani striking with his second hat-trick in under a month. However, the Partenopei frustrated their fans with the inconsistency which has been evident over the past few seasons, losing out to struggling Chievo.

"It was a bad day. Too many of our men played below their capacity. We knew that Chievo would play athletic football, so we decided to apply pressure to them and play on the counter-attack," said Mazzarri, according to Football Italia.

"Defeats happen, but what's important is to draw lessons from your losses. Maybe I should have made more changes to the starting line-up, because midweek matches break up the normal training regime," the Napoli coach was quoted as saying.

Napoli were also without the suspended Ezequiel Lavezzi, the Argentine forward having reached the yellow card limit against Sampdoria.
