Emmanuel Adebayor's late goal on his home debut against Sevilla marked the 5000th goal for Real Madrid in the Santiago Bernabeu.
Real Madrid's new striker Emmanuel Adebayor confirmed los Blancos' progression to the Copa del Rey final with his first goal at the Santiago Bernabeu against Sevilla, and in the process clocked up Madrid's 5,000th strike at the ground.

Marca announced the landmark goal in official matches, as Real Madrid defeated Sevilla 2-0 thanks to Mesut Oezil and a delighted Adebayor late on.

Adebayor has joined a list of greats from Real Madrid history. Jose Giralt scored the first goal for Real Madrid in 1903 against Espanyol. The 1,000th was scored by Belmar, the 2,000th by Francisco Gento, the 3,000th Juanito, 4,000th Amavisca and now 5,000th Adebayor.

"I am very pleased I managed to score. The team had many chances to score and we can say that we played well," Adebayor told Marca.

"I am happy because I see that we have a very strong team with players such as Oezil, Ronaldo and Kaka," the Togolese forward said on his transition to the Madrid giants.
