Bayer Leverkusen After Copenhagen Youngster Mathias Jorgensen
Posted by admin on Thursday, 17 February 2011
Copenhagen defender Mathias Jorgensen has attracted the interest of Bayer Leverkusen.
Denmark international Mathias Jorgensen could be on his way out of Champions League hopefuls Copenhagen as German side Bayer Leverkusen have shown an interest in signing the defender, according to a report in Express.
The Werkself are looking for a long-term replacement for ageing centre-back Sami Hyypia and sporting director Rudi Voeller considers the 20-year-old Jorgensen to be the perfect addition to the Leverkusen squad.
Jorgensen started his professional career with B93 and joined his current club in the summer of 2007. He has since developed into a key player at Copenhagen and has broken into Denmark's national side.
The centre-back's good performances haven't gone unnoticed elsewhere as clubs such as Werder Bremen, Hamburg, Hoffenheim, Everton, Newcastle United and Tottenham Hotspur are all believed to be keeping tabs on Jorgensen.
