Diawara was not sanctioned by UEFA for his tackle on Spartak Moscow striker Welliton.
Olympique Marseille central defender Souleymane Diawara breathed a sigh of relief on Friday after the UEFA disciplinary committee decided not to suspend him for kneeing Spartak Moscow forward Welliton.
The incident occurred during the French outfit's 3-0 win on November 23 in Moscow.
The 32-year-old Senegal international will therefore be able to play in the round of 16 clash against Manchester United on February 23 at Stade Velodrome.
“I learned this morning at our training ground that I was not sanctioned by UEFA,” Diawara told France Football. Let’s forgot about it and hope it doesn’t happen again.”
Diawara, who is returning from a Ligue 1 suspension, will face his former club Bordeaux on Sunday.
