Tottenham Fans To Protest Over Olympic Stadium Move Prior To Manchester United Fixture

Tottenham fans who are against the proposed move to the Olympic Stadium in Stratford are planning to show their anger by signing a petition outside the ground before Tottenham face Manchester United on Sunday, according to the Guardian.

The Premier League chief executive Richard Scudamore was met by members from the 'We are N17' campaign to bring forward their case against the possible move.

The meeting, which was also attended by MP for Tottenham David Lammy - who has previously campaigned raucously against the idea - confronted Scudamore over his decision not to block the proposed move.

Tim Framps, one of the organisers of the 'We are N17' campaign revealed they have collected more than 5,000 signatures against the move, and are angry over the club’s lack of consultation with the fans.

"The first thing we're disappointed about is the lack of consultation. The fans should let their voices be known," Framps said, according to the Guardian. "The OPLC's decision depends on fans following the club. If there are 100,000 Spurs fans who want to go to Stratford, then fair enough. But I don't think there are and that's why they haven't asked us."

Arsene Wenger Insists Arsenal Will Not Sign Another Goalkeeper If Manuel Almunia Leaves Club

Gunners boss hopeful centre-back Vermaelen doesn't require surgery.
Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger has made it clear that he will not be signing another goalkeeper, even if Manuel Almunia departs from the club.

The Spaniard, who is currently out injured with an ankle injury, has been linked with an Emirates Stadium exit with Goal.com UK exclusively revealing last week that Galatasaray are leading the chase for his signature.

“No [I won’t sign another goalkeeper] because we still have Vito Mannone who plays at Hull who is available,” Wenger told the official Arsenal website.

“I think Almunia will stay, then we have three goalkeepers. People want us to have four, five, six, I don’t know.

“We have a young Argentinean boy [Emilio Martinez] as well who is very good. We have plenty of goalkeepers, I think a club who works well can produce good goalkeepers.”

Vito Mannone recently extended his loan spell with Hull which will see him remain there until the end of the season and Wenger isn't sure if the club are even able to recall him.

“It is a complicated question to answer because I don’t think we are [able to],” he said.

“We had to make a decision at the time before we knew Almunia was going out or not. I didn’t want the problem of bringing Vito back and being No. 3 so we took the gamble. I think we can bring him back only in the case of exceptional injury.”

Meanwhile, Wenger is confident that centre-back Thomas Vermaelen will not need surgery but fears the Belgian will still be out for a long period with an Achilles injury.

“We don’t know yet, we don’t think so,” he added. “But he is still a while away yet.”

The Arsenal manager also believes that footballers should not be singled out due to their often high wage packets.

“Why would you just want to punish football?” he asked.

“There are plenty of people out there who make much more money than footballers. What you want is that every company is managed in a responsible way. That is the first step our society has to go.

“I don’t know why if a company makes a £50 million profit, people in the company shouldn’t be rewarded. That would mean only the owners would be rewarded, that would be unfair. People that work in the company have to get their share of the success of the company.

“In the whole of society if you want to limit wages, why not? That needs a complete debate and is more political than sporty.”

New Liverpool manager Kenny Dalglish admits that he could not have asked for a more fitting fixture for his return to Anfield than Sunday's clash with local rivals Everton.

The Anfield legend immortalised himself in the club's folklore after facing the Merseyside rivals as both a player and manager during his first spell in charge of the Reds.

Dalgish's final game in his previous stint as manager of the club was a 4-4 FA Cup draw against Everton in February 1991 - and the Scot is full of praise for what he sees as the best derby in football.

"The derbies in any city are special, and this one is probably more special than many others for very many good reasons," Dalglish told reporters on Friday.

"Until recently, the relationship between the fans has always been magnificent, something that sets Merseyside derbies apart from anywhere else.

"So it's a fantastic day for people and the city which can be proud of the heritage of the two football clubs. That's reflected when the two clubs play each other.

"We've got enormous respect for David Moyes and Everton and what they've done."

Fabio Borini's Chelsea to Parma switch has come unstuck as both clubs take time over deal, claims agent.
Chelsea striker Fabio Borini will have to wait a little longer before he can join Parma, claims agent Marco De Marchi.

Goal.com exclusively revealed how Borini was destined to head to Parma, and De Marchi has confirmed the Ducali are a first choice for his client.

"Everything is on standby for now. Both clubs need to meet and find an agreement that suits them," the agent told Sportsbook24.net.

"I assume both clubs are waiting for the market to evolve. There is heavy competition for him, but Parma are our first choice.

"They have been interested in the player for quite some time."
